Why I Chose To Be A Coach
Why I Chose To Be A Coach
I am a Personal and Business Development Coach who advocates the Mentorship Approach to Leadership. It’s my Personal Mission: Be a Catalyst for Personal Growth Through Genuine Relationships That Expand to Transform Families, Groups, and Organizations.
Encouraging healthy growth and development was a core value of my training in graduate school for Psychology and Counseling. But in practice that’s not what Psychologists and Professional Counselors do. They focus on diagnosis and treatment. It’s a noble thing to do, but I wanted to work with people who are ready to grow and stretch their wings and realize their potential. That’s what coaches do.
Professional Coaching has clear principles, skills, and guidelines under the direction of the International Coach Federation (ICF). Coaching is a creative, dynamic relationship focused on the goals of the client. A coach listens attentively and intuitively to help a client increase awareness and choose a path, one step at a time, to accomplish important goals.
Coaching encourages us to take control of our lives. It helps us learn new skills, accomplish important goals, and build confidence. It helps us explore, understand and honor our values. It helps us discover our interests and passions to live with purpose and enjoyment. It promotes balance and deeper connections for a more authentic, meaningful life.
In Coaching, I have rediscovered that forgotten, other side of Counseling.
